Hi! My name is Theophanes and I am the chicken crazy person who also loves to blog. Welcome into my strange little life!
Tales from the Birdello started as a blog chronicling my life as I got into the homesteading gateway drug – chickens. They were the love of my life before I had to give them up, twice. The first time was due to zoning laws (the neighbor’s ratted me out after two years of chicken ownership) and then I moved onto a proper farm which I built up for two and a half years. It was GLORIOUS and I was so happy sharing my chicken adventures with you. But all good things come to an end as a completely unexpected break-up forced me out of my dream life and back to a sadly chickenless suburbia. I’m in no financial position to get a place of my own just yet but I am by no means defeated! I continue to blog my journey as I work to settle my own, much larger, much more community based Through the Looking Glass Farm.
Tales from the Birdello continues to be the blog I chronicle all my homesteading adventures. I may not have chickens anymore but I continue to garden, build, craft, and perhaps in the spring I may be starting in on meat rabbits and quails. I also continue to do research for my eventual move to my own homestead where I hope to build a place of my own in a shipping container house.
But I also have a number of other blogs because I happen to have a lot to write about. Currently these include:
Deranged Thoughts from a Cluttered Mind: This blog is to homage to all the very strange and wonderful people who have wandered in and out of my life and the wild and whimsical situations they have put me in. It’s meant to give you a good chuckle. Currently there’s also a few humorous historical rants in there as well but these will be divided out soon to make a different blog all their own. I appreciate your patience!
The Boneless Chicken Party: I’ve have had “chronic fatigue syndrome with abdominal pain” since I was twelve that has completely derailed my life a few times. I think it was caused by the house I was living in at the time and the house I was forced to move back to due to financial reasons. It is not all doom and gloom though, this is meant to be a blog of hope and inspiration – showing just what I can achieve and how. I hope to provide comfort, support, and knowledge to whomever decides to read it.
Catching Marbles: When I moved off the farm I had to fill that void of activity I had so I took to wanderin’ the beautiful countryside of New England, snapping photos, singing, and enjoying every nature walk and quirky little shop I could find. This is the travel blog of those journeys.
FINAL NOTE: I am working to change the homes of many of these blogs as well as adding more entries and photos, maybe some videos. I’m always up to something new! So please come back often as this is a monumental effort right now!
